Prep cross country: Gulf Coast girls, Naples boys take CCAC titles

In the two years since the last Collier County Athletic Conference cross country meet, things haven't changed much.

Last year's CCAC meet was rained out, and Wednesday's conference races looked awfully similar to the ones in 2010.

Gulf Coast's Caroline Barlow and Palmetto Ridge's Carlos Miranda won the individual titles, while the Sharks girls and Naples boys took the team trophies. Exactly like two years ago.

"I wanted to win last year, but I couldn't really do that," Barlow said. "It was nice to come out and do it again."

Barlow won in 19 minutes, 38 seconds to lead the top-heavy Sharks to a close victory over Immokalee and Naples. Gulf Coast swept the top three spots but finished with 35 points, just 10 ahead of Immokalee.
